I started taking my cavalier king charles spaniel just 5 weeks ago and I've seen a massive improvement to her behaviour and wellbeing! Bringing it back to basics Capable Canines have helped me reinforce the bond between me and my dog, from a nervous dog who growls snaps and barks at any dog/person on a walk to now gently walking beside me with a happy trot and wagging tail! I'm definitely continuing her training and look forward to every lesson! 🐢

We have been attending Capable Canines for around a year. During that time I have gained a huge amount of confidence, that I had lost when out with our dog. We have a great time at both obedience and agility every week, and our dog has progressed so much. Jacky and the team are brilliant and available to support with any problems I have had over the last year. Thank you 😊

We have been attending obedience and now agility training for nearly two years, since Troy joined our family.
When Troy joined us, he was a rescued ten-month old collie-cross, with loads of energy and hardly any training at all. We brought him to Capable Canines four days after getting him, and he hasn’t looked back.
He has now achieved his Gold Level obedience certificate and really loves his agility classes each week. Every Friday from around 4pm, he starts to wait by the back door, ready to go and visit “Auntie Jacky” for his weekly runs around the course.
We would recommend Capable Canines to anyone wanting to instil some obedience into their dog. Everyone is really friendly and whether your dog takes to it straight away or takes a little time to get there, Jacky and the team will help you and your dog achieve your goal together.

We have attended Jacky's advanced puppy training sessions and in such a short period of time she has worked wonders on our very hyper and distracted pup. It is fascinating to watch Jacky with the dogs, she has such a rapport with them. Dogs really respect Jacky and it is incredible how our dog behaves so well after Jacky has worked her magic on him. She is very talented and very skilled, differentiating her support in response to the dogs' requirements. The advice Jacky gives you is outstanding and provides you with the knowledge to carry on the skills you learn in your own time. We are very excited to attend more of Jacky's sessions and are looking forward to when our dog is old enough to start agility classes. All of the staff at Capable Canines are very friendly, helpful and supportive. I would highly recommend Capable Canines to anyone with a dog as it really will provide you with excellent advice and the sessions will strengthen your bond.

Jackie and her team are totally wonderful! I took my rescue border collie Bella to them, in despair! They have given me a wide range of techniques to use for training and showed me what I was doing wrong. Jackie has a real 'no nonsense' approach which has helped me set boundaries with my dog and I have never seen anyone with so much control over dogs. We always have a laugh at the training sessions and I've made some great friends at agility classes now too. Honestly, without the help of the team at Capable Canines, I probably wouldn't have been able to keep Bella and give her the second chance that she deserves. 5* every time.

We had never been dog owners before, and we wanted a border collie, turns out they're not the easiest dog in the world to have, but they are one of the most rewarding. without Jacky and her team, we might have had a crazy collie, but we have one of the most obedient, loving and happy collies...and we are proud of him. He would not be the way he is without the help of Jacky and her team.

We now find ourselves two and a half year later, with TWO brilliant border collies and some fantastic friends at Capable Canines

Having rescued a very hyper and completely un-housetrained harrier hound called Luna, my partner and I found ourselves in dire straights not knowing how to control and discipline her to begin with. Our local dog groomer Kathy Benfield recommended we talk to Jacky at Capable Canines as quite a few of her clients and she herself had benefitted from working with Jacky.

We began by attending a few of the beginner dog training classes each week which helped us understand the basics of dog handling, training and rewarding. All the team made us feel very welcome and were patient and kind with us, our family and Luna. After this, we decided to have some one to one field training sessions with Jacky, as Luna had zero recall having been used for hunting in packs prior to us taking her. This was truly remarkable, after just the first session Luna was hellishly more responsive, we were clearer and more confident and we had a set of rules to follow easily and clearly on our walks after that.

Since then, Jacky has provided useful advice to us following the birth of our baby, about how to ensure Luna adapts and doesn't feel left out. What Jacky and her team don't know about dogs isn't worth knowing- further testament to this are her own dogs, mostly rescues, who are now happy, healthy and behaving like a dream!

Keep up the amazing work Jacky, it's benefiting the lives of many dogs and owners I have no doubt !

Jake, my Airedale Terrier, and I have been attending Capable Canines since he was a puppy at Puppy School. He is now 4 years old and in that time he has changed from an unruly, self-centred bundle of fun into a calm, mature, well socialised young man, who is a rather larger bundle of fun. Jacky’s firm but loving tuition has been invaluable in his progress and her advice to me when Jake misbehaved or ‘refused’ to obey commands – he is a terrier after all- really helped me and gave me hope. At Capable Canines you not only get quality advice and individual help if needed, you also get the chance to attend seminars about dog related topics. Very important when you are a dog owner. I think it is very important that owners and dogs continue with their training and do not just get the awards and leave. Like people dogs are always learning and I can see me and Jake being OAPs together and still attending classes. Keep up the good work Jacky and your team- we need you.

 Hi Jacky.

I hope you don’t mind me emailing but I wanted to let you know how Chester got on this morning with his morning walk.
We went across the fields and I let him off the lead. He has a sniff about but comes or waits when I ask. I noticed a dog and owner coming towards us so I put him back on the lead and we said hello. Chester said his hello and I said gently and no growling. We carried on off-lead and came across another dog. This time I thought I’d keep Chester off-lead to see what he did. He was fine, had a sniff of the dog and when he looked like he might start to jump I said gently and he turned and looked at me and sat. He said hello to owners and then I got his attention and we carried on. We then came across the first dog and I kept Chester off-lead again and he stayed calm, sniffed the dog, said hello to owner again and we carried on. There were lots of treats but I was really pleased with him. Feel like we are moving forward.
I also wanted to say a huge thank you. I never thought I would have the confidence to walk with him off the lead, worried he would run away. So thank you for giving me the confidence to do all we do.

We took our ten month-old show puppy to Jacky Motts Capable Canines training school when she became frightened of judges `looking at her` and we are so happy we did. Fliss has become so much happier, she has progressed along the KC good citizen award scheme and has recently attained her Gold Award. She is also showing again now and is generally so much more sociable, we have almost forgotten how very worried we were.

We have found Jacky's training methods both enjoyable and effective. Next up for Jacky's training is our eight month-old Vizsla and we are sure she will develop very well.

Along the way our six year-old pointer (old dog, new tricks) gained his Silver KC good citizens award. He is a stubborn old boy but with Jacky's guidance was persuaded.

We wouldn't hesitate in recommending Jacky's dog training school and indeed we have on numerous occasions.

Kind regards,
Jackie and Derek Collins, Fliss and Sid.

Update: I would like to thank you for your help in enabling Fliss to over come her problems, she seems to be going from strength to strength. She took best in show on Sat, not a murmur was to be heard as the judge approached. I must admit I was making it like a training session and they probably thought I'd gone mad making her sit, go down, etc. at a show but if she thinks too much about her surroundings she stresses. If she thinks it's training she's fine as it's clear she loves her training :)

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for everything that you’ve done for Alfie since we joined you following his attack. He has come on leaps and bounds in that time and is now much more confident and happy around people and other dogs. He’s also quite well behaved (well, most of the time!). I suspect it will always be ‘work in progress’ with Alfie, with a few minor setbacks along the way, but that’s all part of who he is and we wouldn’t have him any other way. Thank you again.

We hope to see you again soon.
With kindest regards,

Deb Nunn

I have been attending classes at Capable Canines for over 2yrs, despite being fantastic fun to attend the information I have learned is invaluable to me, also the training we get is not just to tick boxes on a piece of paper, its realistic, for people that live in the real world, with real dogs that all have their flaws and feebles.

I train an Irish Red Setter called Keisha and regularly have people coming up to me making comments such as "ooh they're untrainable", "I used to have those, mine would never sit", "mind would never down" and the classic comment of "they're all mad, they never get tired!".  Well I agree with the part of being mad, but I am very proud to say that we achieved our Gold Level certificate in obedience with the help of Capable Canines!

One of the values that I greatly respect about Capable Canines is their openness and honesty, they won't just hand out certificates left right and Chelsea, you have to work for it and they will help you every step of the way towards achieving your goals! If it was not for this attitude, I would not have discovered my dog was 7 kilos overweight, which makes a big difference when she should only weigh approx 25 kilos. With a little more exercise and diet control she is now at the perfect weight and fitness thanks to Capable Canines

At Capable Canines they don’t just train you up and ship you off; Keisha and I passed our Gold Level obedience about 7-months ago and since then we have been attending the agility training sessions which are great fun and exercise for both animal and handler. Plus we are still attending an obedience class for those that have already passed their obedience to keep their skills up :-)

Hi Jacky,

I just thought I would send you a message to say Rosie and Harry are very well and happy, we are a great team and thanks to attending your classesthey are so easy to be with and I love them so much. We might pop up again for a refresher one day, not that they need it but they enjoyed coming so much.

Hi Jacky,

This came up in my timeline and I just wanted to say a big thank you to you and your team for helping us understand 'dog'. She has gone from a very scared rescue using aggression to protect herself to a wonderful little dog who can now do off lead walks with confidence, (with a good recall and the other day even engaged in play with another dog whilst out!) Many thanks again for all your did for us.

A big thank you to Jacky!
My 5yr old Great Dane Wilf was refusing to get into my vehicle for the last few months for no apparent reason
Jacky came over and gave some fantastic advice and in a very short time Wilf is now travelling again. He was also beginning to lunge at people coming into the house..and he's a BIG dog! Again Jacky gave the best advice. Problem solved, Happy Wilf and happier mum!

Thank you Jacky!

I do feel Capable Canines gave her a fabulous start, and has definitely given me a far greater insight into dog training even dog psychology! I will definitely return when I have another puppy (you can never just have one) but I feel that bertha has got the best out of it, we require to continue with her gun dog work is enough for her now. Many thanks and very best wishes to you and your lovely team at Capable Canines.

Janey.

I have spent over £1,000 trying to train our very highly sprung Springer, Riley. I can honestly say we have achieved more with him through working with you than we have with any other trainer, this includes one-to-one training and even residential training!

Not only does Riley respond to the training, but Claire and I honestly believe the social element is just as important to his development and we know he enjoys the classes as is witnessed by the enthusiasm with which he leaps from the car on arrival!

Thank you for everything you have done and continue to do for Riley as well as Claire and I. A well behaved dog only enhances the joy of dog ownership and you are helping us no end.

Keep up the good work!

Claire, Drew and Riley
